Peri - Peri African Roots

The Chester’s Grill tradition of good food and passion for life is inspired by our Portuguese forefathers, who explored exciting new lands in the 15th century. It was in the rich soils and intense heat of Sourthern Africa that they discovered the African Bird’s Eye Chilli, known as Pen-Pen in the African Language of Swahili.

This fiery little Chilli, combined with special herbs and spices, lemon and a touch of garlic are the ingredients that give Chester’s Grill Original Pen-Pen sauce its unique flavour.
